History of the Diamond Engagement Ring

Did you know that the modern round brilliant-cut diamond is the most desired of all diamond shapes? furthermore, it is the most highly sought-after shape in the diamond world. One of the first recorded uses of a diamond engagement ring was by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, circa 1477.

Conversely, the engagement ring has always been a visible symbol of a person’s intention to spend the rest of their lives together. The time-honored tradition of an engagement ring actually began as early as 2000 years ago by the ancient Romans. The engagement ring was worn to affirm mutual love and obedience.

Much later, the arrival of the engagement ring started to appear in the United States, approximately circa 1840. Finally, by the 1930’s, the engagement ring gains notoriety.
